Who is a Candidate for Arm Lift Surgery?

Individuals who experience sagging in the arm area and are bothered by this condition, without any contraindications for surgery, are suitable candidates for arm lift surgery. Excessive skin hanging from the underarm area can cause discomfort and pain as it increases in size. The resulting unease and pain while dressing and undressing due to arm movement can also lead to social issues over time.

Some common causes for arm sagging include:

Weight loss after significant weight reduction

Excessive weight gain during pregnancy

Sudden loss of muscle mass due to medication or other factors, resulting in muscle wasting and sagging

Age-related skin sagging, which commonly affects the arms

How is Arm Lift Surgery Performed?

Arm lift surgery is typically performed on both arms. Prior to making an incision, which is initiated near the armpit area, necessary surgical preparations are made, ensuring the patient is ready.

The procedure involves the following steps:

The patient is prepared under general anesthesia, ensuring their comfort throughout the surgical process. Any preexisting conditions hindering the surgery are addressed and necessary precautions are taken.

Excess skin is reshaped by making incisions in the inner part of the elbow and the armpit area.

If there is excess fat, it can be removed through the incision or with the use of a vacuum cannula during liposuction. Liposuction is often preferred for smaller incisions, as it yields faster results.

Once the desired arm shape is achieved, the incision is closed with sutures.

The arm lift and tightening procedures usually take 1-3 hours to complete.

You won’t experience any pain during the operation itself. However, it is normal to have some discomfort afterward. Painkillers will be provided for precautionary purposes, and it’s important to take them regularly. Following the recovery period after arm lift procedures, adhering to the recommendations of our aesthetic specialists will help you achieve optimal results within a shorter timeframe.

After Arm Lift Surgery

After arm lifts, it is recommended to wear a special arm corset for a minimum of 3-4 weeks. Avoid lifting heavy objects with your arms and refrain from engaging in strenuous sports activities. Quitting harmful habits, such as smoking, will promote faster healing.

You can take a shower 2 days after the operation. Exercise can be resumed after 2 months, depending on your progress. Gentle exercises may be possible after 1 month. Rest assured that arm lift procedures typically result in minimal scarring. For any additional inquiries, please feel free to consult with our hospital staff.
